Let's Work Together
Individual Counselling
Individual counselling creates a space for children and adolescents, and adults to process challenging life experiences. It allows them the opportunity to express difficult emotions and develop strategies and tools to cope and navigate their life in a more positive way. This can promote confidence and improve the relationship they have with themselves and others.
Play-Based Intervention
Play is a natural medium for children to communicate thoughts and feelings. It allows children the opportunity to process big emotions and difficult experiences that they may not be able to articulate in words. Children are able to learn skills and develop a better understanding of their experience in a way that feels safe and natural to them.
Parent Support
It can be overwhelming when children are struggling and we feel at a loss for how to help. Having support to navigate what your child is experiencing, and building on strategies and tools you already possess, can help reduce stress and allow you to feel more confident in managing your child’s emotions.
EMDR
Difficult experiences can create overwhelming thoughts and feelings. These events can get stored in our brains and can be triggered again and again. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach to address the symptoms of PTSD. It allows the brain to link the old memories with the resources it needs to resolve the difficulty.

Meet Terri, Founder of Root Counselling
It has always felt like such a gift and privilege to hold space for people's stories and lived experiences. I am humbled by their bravery as they take a step toward healing. I am passionate about trauma and how our brains work to protect ourselves even in ways that may seem strange.
Children have this amazing ability to adapt to circumstances and implement strategies to better manage difficulties.
My journey has allowed me to support children and families in a variety of settings . I have worked in residential homes supporting adults with developmental disabilities. I worked in shelters supporting women and children who have left violent situations. I have counselled children in hospitals, schools and spent more than a decade counselling children, youth and their families in a community mental health setting.
